"Challenges and Opportunities of Librarians and Information Professionals in the Age of New Technology”

The Association of Special Libraries of the Philippines, Inc. (ASLP) in cooperation with the Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Library, would like to invite you to a four-day, three-night seminar on "Challenges and Opportunities of Librarians and Information Professionals in the Age of New Technology” on April 27-30 at the Bamboo Garden, Dipolog City.


The ASLP believes that libraries and information centers will continue to find:


* Professional growth in the changing and challenging nature of information,
* Strength in collaboration and cooperation,
* Purpose in reaching out to the underserved or non-user, and
* Visibility through partnerships with a wide range of community and cultural partners


With this aim in mind, we are organizing this seminar to prepare librarians and fellow information professionals for the different challenges and opportunities facing them in the age of new technology.


Librarians, library administrators, archivists, record officers, support staff, teachers and students of Library & Information Science, and other information professionals are invited to attend the said seminar.


Seminar fees are:

“Ethics 2.0: Managing Ethics in the Library”

Greetings!

The PLAI-Central Luzon Region Librarians Council in cooperation with the University of the Assumption, is scheduled to conduct a forum entitled “Ethics 2.0: Managing Ethics in the Library” on May 19, 2011, from eight thirty in the morning to twelve noon (8:30am-12:00nn) at the High School Audio Visual Room, University of the Assumption, City of San Fernando, Pampanga. Registration starts at 7:30am.

This activity aims to discuss the salient provisions of the Revised Librarians’ Code of Ethics (BFL Resolution No. 6, s. 2006) and pertinent issues affecting the profession.

Registration fee of P200.00 for both members and non-members, and P150.00 for students of Library and Information Science, will be charged to cover the resource speaker’s fee, certificates and snacks.

Archives and Records Management on April 4-6, 2011 from 9 am to 5 pm at the Rizal Library Special Collections Building.

Dear Colleagues,

The Rizal Library of the Ateneo de Manila University is conducting a hands-on training on Archives and Records Management on April 4-6, 2011 from 9 am to 5 pm at the Rizal Library Special Collections Building. The training aims to enable the participants to:
1. Learn through experience the difference and similarities about archives and records management;
2. Learn the basic preservation measures and reformatting options;
3. Acquire knowledge in selection, retention, and disposition of archival materials; and
4. Apply both trends and standards in archival and records management in your own organization.

The fee for the training program is PhP 3000 to cover the kit, 6 snacks, 3 lunches and other expenses. Checks may be made in the name of the Ateneo de Manila University.

UNEP SEMINAR--DECEMBER 3, 2010

The University of Northeastern Philippines (UNEP) Library would like to invite you to a seminar/workshop on the topic “Information Literacy and Technology: Shaping Our Future” to be held at the UNEP Mini-Theater on December 03, 2010.

The objective of the seminar is to create awareness of the importance of information literacy among students and to know the emerging technologies that are needed to provide better library services. Target participants are teachers, librarians and education students.
